medieval essay

It all staretes 50 years ago at 1321 A.D. in the 13th century. Traveling merchants settled in a large area of land. The land was great with rich soil and had a freshwater stream. Peasants families heard about this great land and traveled there. Peasants, merchants, farmers, carpenters, and all other kinds of craftsmen went to this land. As more and more people came, the population grew. The people decided that they needed a town and elected one. The new and first ever lord of the town was James Finkleburg and the town got its charter. The charter was official on October 15, 1001.
This town was named after the first merchant that came to this area. It was called There were about 400 people when this town got its charter and about 399 people came to the original ceremony. The party was held all around the town. People had a feast and danced all night. The population of the town multipied rapidly. There was a serious problem with diseases about 7 years later. There wasn't any vaccine for any diseases and antibiotics weren't made until the 1800's. Some Christians back then believed that diseases were results of sins and thought that the diseases were spreading by bad odors. The population decreased to 4/3 of the normal population. This disease problem was over after about another 6 years.
At 1397, the lord died and his son became the second lord. The second lord's name was James. He was a great smart lord. He made great choices for the town and extended the town a few more acres. Being a barber was a great joab back then. This was because barbers were like docters. When someone was sick, they went to the barber. Becoming a craftsman was a great responsibility and was a great job too. You would live with your master when you were a apprentice and help him out. You would work at your master's shop and get trained into a master if your were a journeyman. Masters would get money and prepare his shop. This process would keep going on. The medieval days was a hard time for people but it is still part of history.
